It's a common misconception that CBD completely chills you out and makes you high. It cannot make you high, but it can uplift you!
Here's a quick CBD info reminder: CBD stands for Cannabidiol, which is a compound extracted from the hemp plant. One of the ways CBD works is by setting free the bliss molecule in your body. It does this by preventing the breakdown of a compound called anandamide.
Anandamide is a neurotransmitter. Even better, its name comes from the Sanskrit word ananda, which means, happiness, delight, joy, pleasure.
Humans have an enzyme known as fatty acid amide hydrolase, or FAAH. Once anandamide enters a cell, FAAH starts to break it down because FAAH is a bully enzyme! Boo, we do not like FAAH.
CBD (our hero!) interferes with FAAH’s ability to break down anandamide, giving our own naturally-produced happiness has a longer lifespan.
Remember, CBD won't make you high since it is a safe, non-psychoactive component of cannabis. It can render that bully enzyme worthless and your happiness will last longer. What's not to love?
